Migration processes more than 44 thousand exit permits for minors so far in 2026
The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) has reported a significant flow in the management of travel authorizations for minors. During the quarter consisting of June, July, and August 2026, the institution processed a total of 31,553 permits, highlighting the progressive adoption of its new digital platform.
Of this quarterly total, 7,702 applications were processed through the innovative digital system, which represents 24.4% of the total volume of procedures in that period of high demand due to school holidays. The rest of the authorizations, some 23,843, were channeled through the traditional method.
Growth in the management of immigration documents
When analyzing the cumulative figures from January to August 2026, the DGM has processed a total of 44,156 exit documents for minors. This figure is broken down into 36,454 permits issued in person and 7,702 via digital means.
Comparing this data with the same interval in the year 2025, permits processed through the traditional route have experienced an increase of 10.8%, rising from 32,899 to 36,454 applications. It is worth remembering that, throughout the year 2025, the Certification Department reached a total of 47,264 permits issued.
The implementation of the digital modality seeks to modernize services, eliminating the need for physical travel and allowing parents to manage travel authorizations from mobile devices or computers, thanks to an interoperability system with other state entities.
This technological advancement is part of the institutional strategy to offer more agile, efficient, and accessible services to the public, aligning with state modernization policies that seek to reduce bureaucracy in immigration procedures.
