Relatives demand justice after inmate’s death at CCR Las Parras
Uncertainty and grief overwhelm the relatives of Jancarlos Peralta, a 30-year-old man who lost his life while serving a sentence at the Las Parras Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR). Faced with the tragic event, his loved ones have formally requested that judicial and penitentiary authorities conduct an exhaustive investigation to clarify the true causes of his death.
Peralta, who had been held in the facility for almost three years, was transferred to a medical center where, according to reports, he arrived without vital signs. What has caused the greatest consternation among his relatives is the state in which they observed the body, asserting that it showed multiple traumas and marks of physical violence.
One step away from freedom
One of the points that causes the most distress to the family is Peralta’s proximity to his release from the prison system. According to their statements, the young man had approximately one month left to regain his freedom. Furthermore, they maintain that the inmate had recently obtained a favorable resolution following a legal process in which his guilt regarding the charges that kept him behind bars had been called into question.
