Lifeless body found in a General Directorate of Migration truck
A macabre discovery shook the main headquarters of the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) in Santo Domingo, after the body of a man was located inside a truck owned by the institution. The vehicle had been immobilized at the back of the facilities due to mechanical failures for several days.
The alert was issued on Monday afternoon by a local worker, who noticed a strong stench emanating from the vehicle. Following the report, agents from the Department of Criminal Investigations (DICRIM) and specialists from the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) arrived at the scene to carry out the corresponding recovery and transport the body to the morgue for the required examinations.
Identification and course of the investigation
The institution identified the deceased as Nelson de los Santos, 39 years old. According to preliminary reports, De los Santos was a person known in the vicinity of the headquarters, where he used to perform informal work. The last time he was seen alive in the area was last Friday.
The General Directorate of Migration has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate closely with the Public Ministry and the National Police to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event, while awaiting the official autopsy results.
Currently, the authorities have not determined the cause of death. As part of its security measures, the DGM reported that it is working on the installation of a perimeter fence to reinforce access control to its facilities.

This event adds to a series of cases recorded in Greater Santo Domingo where bodies have been found inside parked vehicles. Similar situations occurred in the San Carlos sector in April 2023 and in Ciudad Modelo, Santo Domingo Norte, in March 2024.
