Punta Rucia unveils a new photo spot to boost tourism in Puerto Plata

The Ministry of Tourism, under the management of David Collado, made a significant investment of RD$10,822,480 for the inauguration of a modern photographic viewpoint at Punta Rucia beach, Puerto Plata. This project is part of the strategic plan for the recovery of public spaces and waterfronts that seeks to raise the standard of Dominican destinations.

The infrastructure, supervised by the Executing Committee for Infrastructure in Tourist Zones (CEIZTUR), is deployed over 352 square meters within an area of influence of 1,391 square meters. The main objective is to provide this popular coastal enclave with a clear visual identity that serves as a reference for visitors.

Work details and environmental improvements

  • Construction of a city brand sign in reinforced concrete.
  • Comprehensive reconstruction of sidewalks, curbs, and road paving.
  • Installation of ground cover for coastal edge protection.
  • Improvements in gardening, landscaping, and lighting.
  • Incorporation of street furniture, road signage, and contemplation areas.

This new viewpoint provides the identity that Punta Rucia deserves and represents the starting point for future actions aimed at continuing to transform and improve the environment of this tourist area, which is the natural gateway to Cayo Paraíso.

The local community, composed of merchants and residents, expressed their satisfaction with the intervention, highlighting that it is the first time a Tourism head has personally visited the beaches of Punta Rucia and La Ensenada to execute direct improvements in the area.

A key destination on the north coast

Punta Rucia, located 70 kilometers from the city of Puerto Plata, has established itself as a strategic point for nature tourism, being the main access route to Cayo Arena. The Ministry of Tourism reaffirms its commitment to the development of these destinations, boosting competitiveness and improving the visitor experience throughout the national geography.

Under the leadership of David Collado, who has a solid track record in the public sector and specialized training in tourism, the institution maintains an active agenda focused on international promotion, investment in infrastructure, and the diversification of the Dominican tourism offering for the year 2026.
