Legal action against Hoy Mismo communicators for alleged defamation
A group of legal experts has initiated a judicial process of great relevance in the Dominican communication sector. Francisco S. Durán González, Enrique Alfonso Vallejo Garib, and Carlos Julio Martínez Ruiz formally filed a criminal complaint with civil party constitution against communicators Danny Alcántara, Óscar Medina, and Luisín Mejía. The lawsuit also includes the television station Color Visión, Channel 9, in its capacity as a civilly liable third party.
The complaint, filed with the National District Prosecutor’s Office on April 16, 2026, stems from statements made during the November 13, 2025, edition of the morning show “Hoy Mismo Matinal.” According to the plaintiffs, the content broadcast on both the open signal and digital platforms constituted acts of defamation and slander that directly affected their honor and reputation.
Legal implications and charges
The legal team maintains that the defendants committed violations of Law No. 53-07 on High-Tech Crimes and Offenses. Specifically, articles 21, 22, 60, and 64 of said regulation are cited, which govern responsibilities regarding the dissemination of harmful content through digital media.
The violation of defamation and slander issued through digital media carries a penalty of up to two years in prison and a travel ban.
Legal instance of the caseCurrently, the case is under the supervision of public prosecutors María Miguelina Palma and Jhon Richard Suncar, who lead the Investigative Department of Intellectual Property and High-Tech Crimes at the Ciudad Nueva Courthouse.

The hearing has been scheduled for next Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., where those involved must appear alongside their legal representatives to continue the judicial process that will determine responsibilities in this high-profile media case.
