Couple arrested for scamming citizens with false promises of lottery numbers
The National Police managed to dismantle a dangerous criminal method that had the public on alert. Law enforcement agents arrested Félix Augusto Pérez, 48, and Mabel Ozuna, known as Fransibel, 31, identified as being responsible for multiple robberies through deception and false lottery predictions.
The modus operandi of the detainees consisted of approaching their victims under the guise of possessing the ability to guess winning lottery numbers. Through this ruse, they managed to gain the trust of citizens to subsequently strip them of cash, cell phones, precious jewelry, and other items of value.
Research and confession
The capture of the couple was possible thanks to exhaustive intelligence work, supported by the analysis of videos circulating on various digital platforms, which evidenced the way they operated. After being arrested, both admitted their participation in several of the reported criminal acts.
The law enforcement institution urges citizens who have been victims of this duo to report to the nearest station to formalize their complaint and strengthen the judicial file.
In particular, the authorities have requested a young woman, whose image appears in one of the viral videos regarding these events, to approach the authorities to collaborate with the ongoing investigative process.
Next legal steps
The detainees will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office to face the corresponding charges. Meanwhile, security agencies continue to deepen investigations to determine if there are more victims linked to this fraud network and if those apprehended have participated in other similar crimes within the national territory.
