Coercive measure against Pastor Ángel Capellán postponed due to Haina case
The Permanent Attention Office of San Cristóbal has decided to postpone until September 10th the coercive measure hearing against Pastor Ángel Capellán. The religious leader is accused of alleged acts of child abuse that occurred at the ‘Restaurando Vidas’ (Restoring Lives) Foundation, ‘A Dead Man Who Comes Back to Life,’ an establishment located in the municipality of Haina.
The court made this decision with the aim of facilitating the presentation of advance evidence related to the minors who were rescued during the operations carried out at the aforementioned foundation. Likewise, the postponement will allow the defense of the accused to organize and submit the necessary budgets to support their legal strategy in the face of the serious accusations.
Charges and details of the judicial process
The prosecution has reported that, preliminarily, the case has been legally classified under the charge of human trafficking for the purpose of labor exploitation. The authorities have confirmed that the evidentiary elements supporting this charge have already been formally filed and will be presented in detail during the upcoming hearing.
In addition to Ángel Capellán, popularly known as “El Pastor”, the case file lists Isaías Ramón Muñoz Rodríguez as a defendant. Both individuals were linked to the judicial process following the intervention carried out by the authorities at the Fundación Restaurando Vidas “Un Muerto que Revive”.
The operation carried out at the shelter allowed for the rescue of several minors, who are currently under the protection and care of the competent State institutions.
