Green alert in eight provinces due to the incidence of a trough and tropical wave
The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has issued a green alert for eight provinces of the Dominican territory, due to the imminent approach of a trough that will cause unstable weather conditions. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, accompanied by electrical activity and wind gusts.
The provinces under this warning level are the National District, Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal—specifically in its northern zone—, Monte Plata, Monseñor Nouel, San Pedro de Macorís, Hato Mayor, and Sánchez Ramírez.
Recommendations and preventive measures
José Luis Germán, Deputy Director of Information Management and Communication at the COE, indicated that alert levels are subject to change based on the evolution of the phenomenon and updates issued by the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).
We urge citizens to stay informed through official bulletins, avoid crossing rivers, streams, and creeks with significant flooding, and ensure the activation of the family emergency plan in case of any eventuality.

Weather forecast for the next few hours
The weather outlook for this Friday is influenced by the passage of a tropical wave, which has generated downpours along the Caribbean coast since early hours. By the afternoon, the interaction of this system with daytime heating is expected to intensify the rainfall, extending thunderstorms to various areas of the country.
Looking ahead to Saturday, although the tropical wave will move away from the forecast area, the remaining moisture and the persistence of the trough will maintain an unstable environment. Moderate to heavy showers are anticipated, with possible wind gusts, concentrating mainly during the afternoon in the following regions:
- Northeast
- Northwest
- Southwest
- Central Mountain Range
