Dominican Republic reaches record number at the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games
The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) has enthusiastically celebrated the historic performance achieved by the national delegation at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026. This result, classified as the most successful in the country’s sporting history, is a reflection of a coordinated effort between athletes, technical staff, and national federations.
Engineer Garibaldy Bautista, president of the COD, emphasized that the success achieved would not have been possible without the strategic backing of the Government, under the administration of President Luis Abinader, and the constant support of the Ministry of Sports, led by Kelvin Cruz. According to Bautista, the timely delivery of resources was a fundamental pillar in ensuring that the athletes arrived at the regional event in optimal preparation conditions.

A milestone in the Dominican medal table
The performance of the Dominican athletes left figures for posterity. The country achieved a total harvest of 150 medals, widely surpassing the previous record of 133 medals reached in Mayagüez 2010. This performance reaffirms the sustained growth of high performance in the nation.
