Cibao International Airport to double its operational capacity after multi-million dollar expansion
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, conducted a supervision visit to the expansion works of the Cibao International Airport, an infrastructure project that promises to transform air connectivity in the northern region of the country. During the tour, the president highlighted that this project is vital for economic development, allowing the terminal to double its current capacity of 2.3 million passengers per year.
This strategic expansion responds to the sustained increase in traveler flow and the strengthening of trade routes linking Santiago with major international destinations, with special emphasis on the most important cities in the United States.
This is a work of great importance for the entire Northern region, because it will allow doubling the number of passengers currently transported through this airport.

Technical details and investment projections
Teófilo Gómez, general manager of the terminal, detailed that the first phase of the project has an investment exceeding 200 million dollars. According to the reports presented to the head of state, the gray work and the structure show significant progress of 90%.

- Projected delivery date: Mid-2027.
- Impact: Boosting tourism, commerce, and new investments in the Cibao area.
Gómez stressed that government support has been fundamental to advancing this transformation, which will not only improve the user experience but will also position the airport as a top-tier logistics hub in the Caribbean.

The members of the Board of Directors of the Cibao International Airport were present at the supervision act, including Ricardo Fondeur, Ricardo Brugal, and José Armando Bermúdez. Likewise, the official delegation was composed of:
