Charros de Jalisco and Cardenales de Lara will headline the 2026 Caribbean Classic in Texas
Winter baseball transcends borders. The Charros de Jalisco, current monarchs of the Caribbean Series, and the Cardenales de Lara have announced a high-level exhibition series called the 2026 Caribbean Classic. This event, which promises to bring together Latino fans in the United States, will take place on October 9 and 11 in Texan territory.
The inaugural series will take place on Friday, October 9 in Dallas, while the second duel will move to Constellation Field in Sugar Land, in the Houston metropolitan area, on Sunday, October 11. The news was confirmed at a press conference in Houston, where representatives of both organizations highlighted the relevance of this matchup between two of the leagues with the greatest tradition in the Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC).
Two diamond powerhouses face to face
The Charros de Jalisco arrive at this matchup in stellar form. Under the leadership of Benjamín Gil, the Mexican team has not only consolidated its dominance in the Liga ARCO Mexicana del Pacífico with two consecutive titles, but also achieved international glory by winning the 2026 Caribbean Series in Jalisco after a dramatic victory against the Tomateros de Culiacán.
For their part, the Cardenales de Lara represent one of the most respected institutions in Venezuelan baseball. With seven national championships in their history and a constant presence in the postseason of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP), the Red Birds arrive in Texas with the goal of fine-tuning their final pieces before the start of the 2026-2027 campaign.
