The Caribbean Tourism Exchange celebrates three decades of boosting Dominican tourism
The Caribbean Tourism Exchange (BTC) is preparing to commemorate its thirtieth edition, an event that reaffirms its commitment to the development and projection of the tourism industry in the Dominican Republic. The event will take place from October 22 to 24 at the Dominican Fiesta hotel facilities, bringing together the main players in the national and international sector.
Since its founding in 1996, the BTC has been a fundamental pillar for the promotion of the country, consolidating itself as a strategic space for commercial exchange and the strengthening of ties with key markets in Central America, the Caribbean, North America, and South America.
A high-level multidisciplinary meeting
Luis Felipe Aquino, president and founder of the platform, highlighted the importance of this anniversary: “As we celebrate three decades, the BTC reaffirms the essence that has allowed it to remain relevant: promoting the Dominican Republic, generating business opportunities, fostering regional integration, and contributing to the sustainable development of our industry.”
BTC is an event into which passion, interest, and dedication have been poured. Over these 30 years, it has fulfilled its mission of providing visibility and promoting the country at both regional and international levels.

For this special edition, Panama has been designated as the Guest Country of Honor, presenting its tourism offerings and attractions to the more than 200 confirmed tour operators and travel agents, who come from various countries, including Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Turkey.
2026 Activity Schedule and News
The director of the BTC, Luisa María de Aquino, detailed a diverse program that includes conferences, workshops, and business meetings. Among the highlights of the agenda are:
- First International Journalistic Tourism Forum, organized by Adompretur.
- First Dental Tourism Congress.
- Conference on MICE tourism with expert Fernando Compeán.
- Specialized workshops on nautical, religious, and accessible tourism.
- Gastronomic record: preparation of the largest grain salad, on Saturday, October 24.
In addition, the event will pay tribute to the “Unsung Heroes of the Tourism Sector,” recognizing the work of individuals who have contributed significantly to the growth of the activity in the country. The experience will be completed with tours of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo, allowing foreign delegations to connect with the Dominican historical heritage.
This event has the strategic backing of the Ministry of Tourism, Banreservas, the Ministry of Culture, and Radio Televisión Dominicana, institutions that have been key to the evolution of the BTC as a regional benchmark for innovation and business.
