One of those involved in deadly assault on the Duarte highway captured
The National Police reported the arrest of one of the two men accused of participating in the murder of a citizen during an assault carried out at kilometer 14 of the Duarte Highway. The criminals’ objective was to rob the victim of his motorcycle.
The detainee was identified as Wander de la Cruz Polanco, known in the criminal world as “Mello,” 28 years old. The individual turned himself in voluntarily to the authorities to answer for the accusations against him.
The search for the second suspect continues
Security forces are maintaining an active search operation to locate Luis Antony Valdez, alias “El Mello de la Esterlina.” According to preliminary investigations, this individual is believed to be the perpetrator of the gunshot that took the life of 43-year-old Josué Méndez Gómez.
The law enforcement institution confirmed that, thanks to the images captured by security cameras in the area, the Homicide agents of Santo Domingo Oeste were able to identify both suspects with precision.
Incident details and vehicle recovery
- The victim, Josué Méndez Gómez, lost his life after being shot during the robbery of his motorcycle, a blue Bajaj Platina.
- After the crime, the authorities managed to locate the stolen vehicle, which had been abandoned at kilometer 20 of the same Duarte highway.
The National Police reiterated its commitment to continue intelligence efforts until the capture of Luis Antony Valdez is achieved. Once detained, the case will be referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office so that both individuals involved face due legal process for the homicide and the charges derived from the assault.
