Dominican Republic Army delivers renovated detachment in Pedernales
The Commanding General of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD), Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, led the official handover of the Cabeza de Agua detachment, located in the province of Pedernales, following the completion of an exhaustive renovation and refurbishment process of its facilities.
This work is part of the strategic plan to strengthen military infrastructure that the institution is promoting throughout the border strip. The main objective is to dignify the living and service conditions of the soldiers, in addition to enhancing the operational capacity of the units in charge of surveillance in this strategic area of the country.
Renovation details
The comprehensive intervention at the detachment allowed for a significant transformation of the military personnel’s work environment. Among the improvements executed, the following stand out:
- Complete rehabilitation of accommodation areas.
- Deep remodeling of the kitchen and bathrooms.
- Comprehensive replacement of floors, doors, and windows.
- Total renovation of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Waterproofing, general painting, and lighting installation works.
- Outdoor conditioning and provision of new furniture.

During the handover ceremony, Major General Camino Pérez emphasized that the modernization of military facilities is fundamental to ensuring that soldiers have a dignified environment while fulfilling their duty of protecting the land border.
Improving infrastructure directly contributes to increasing the efficiency and responsiveness of our military units operating in the border zone, reaffirming our unwavering commitment to sovereignty and national security.

At the inauguration ceremony, the commanding general was accompanied by the governor of Pedernales, Edirda De Oleo; Brigadier General Freddy Soto Thormann, commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade; and Colonel Ricardo Cruz Arias, commander of the 16th Infantry Battalion, who verified the quality of the work carried out on the structure.
