Dominican journalists highlight the rise of Argentine tourism to the Dominican Republic at an international congress
Dominican communicators Cristina Rosario and Salvador Batista were protagonists at the 18th International Congress of Journalists and Tourism Professionals, held in Jujuy, Argentina. During their participation, they analyzed the key factors that have made Argentina the third most important source market for the tourism sector in the Dominican Republic.
The event, organized by the World Tourism Journalism Organization (OMPT), served as a platform to break down the evolution of this flow of travelers, highlighting how the comprehensive communication and connectivity strategy has been fundamental to consolidating this bilateral bond.
Sustained growth in figures
Under the presentation titled “How is a tourism market transformed? The Argentina–Dominican Republic case”, the experts presented statistical data that reflect an impressive rise. According to the figures shared, the arrival of Argentine tourists to the Caribbean country went from 189,211 in 2019 to 450,501 in 2025, which represents a growth of 138%.
Connectivity puts the destination within reach. Communication puts it in the traveler’s mind.

Communication and connectivity strategies
For exhibitors, the success of this market is no coincidence. The presentation highlighted the following pillars:
- Air connectivity: The strategic role of airlines like Arajet in facilitating passenger flow.
- Effective promotion: The use of iconic figures, such as singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra, to project the Dominican identity internationally.
- Institutional support: The work of the Dominican Ministry of Tourism in the constant promotion of the destination.
The presentation included key testimonies, highlighting the intervention of José Gregorio Cabrera, an executive at Arajet, who underscored the importance of direct connectivity for the strengthening of this market.
A meeting for professional exchange
The congress, which was held under the theme “When communicating a destination generates real travel,” brought together more than 150 experts, students, and professionals from various countries. The participation of the Dominicans was not limited to the presentation, but also fostered a cultural and technical exchange with colleagues from the region and local authorities, including the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Jujuy, Federico Posadas.
Cristina Rosario, director of Travellers.com, and Salvador Batista, head of RecorriendoConSalvador.com, reaffirmed with their intervention the Dominican Republic’s commitment to the professionalization of tourism communication, consolidating the country as a benchmark of success in attracting South American markets.
