Alleged abuse of authority by Army members reported in Azua
A citizen residing in the community of Los Toros, belonging to the municipality of Tábara Arriba in the province of Azua, has filed a formal complaint after alleging to have been the victim of abusive treatment during an operation carried out by members of the Dominican Republic Army.
The complainant, identified as Samuel de León, reported that the military entered his private property under the pretext of pursuing foreign citizens with irregular migratory status. According to his testimony, the procedure turned violent when the agents allegedly pointed their weapons at him and ordered him to lie on the ground, demanding that he hand over firearms that he claims he does not possess.

Faced with this situation, De León expressed that he felt his fundamental rights had been violated and directly requested the commander of the Nineteenth Infantry Battalion, based at the Antonio Duvergé Fortress in Azua, to initiate an exhaustive investigation into the conduct of the uniformed personnel involved to determine the corresponding responsibilities.
Actions against irregular migration must always be carried out with strict respect for human rights and the dignity of citizens, ensuring that institutional protocol prevails at all times.
