Armed confrontation in Cevicos leaves one dead following police operation
In the municipality of Cevicos, Sánchez Ramírez province, an exchange of gunfire was reported that resulted in the death of an as-yet unidentified man. The incident took place in the area known as El Pescozón, when a National Police patrol arrived at the scene after receiving multiple reports from residents regarding gunfire in the public thoroughfare.
According to the official report from the authorities, police personnel were met with gunfire when attempting to approach a group of individuals who were at the scene. Faced with direct aggression, the officers were forced to repel the attack in self-defense, resulting in the fatal wounding of one of the subjects who made up the group.
Seized evidence and investigation process
Following the incident, the victim’s body was transported to the local hospital for the required legal procedures, where the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the medical examiner carried out the corresponding removal. At the scene of the confrontation, officers managed to recover various items that are part of the ongoing investigation:
- A 9 mm caliber pistol with illegible brand and serial number.
- A scale, commonly used for illicit activities.
- A cell phone.
The law enforcement institution maintains active intelligence efforts to identify and capture the other members of the group who were accompanying the deceased at the time of the confrontation, with the objective of bringing them to justice.
