School schedule adjustments: ADP establishes new measures in Greater Santo Domingo
The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP), through its branches in Greater Santo Domingo, has formalized a series of modifications to teaching schedules in various educational centers in the region. This decision arises as a response to the various precarious conditions and operational challenges that, according to the teachers’ union, hinder the optimal development of daily school activities.
New guidelines for the Extended School Day
Following a meeting held at the ADP National House, the guidelines that will govern schools under the Extended School Day (JEE) modality from now on were established. The main changes are as follows:
- Educational centers with Extended School Day will conclude their teaching activities at 3:00 in the afternoon.
- In those institutions that operate under the Extended Day modality but lack the school lunch service, teaching will end at 12:00 noon.
Regular season situation
On the other hand, the ADP leadership clarified that schools operating under the regular schedule scheme will not have their usual calendar altered. In this sense, the morning shift will maintain its dismissal at noon, while the afternoon shift will continue to operate until 5:00 p.m.
The measures adopted by the branches respond directly to the structural and operational difficulties that persist in the centers of Greater Santo Domingo, which directly affect the quality and development of the school day.
These provisions seek to make visible the problems faced by local schools and add to the recent concerns expressed by the teachers’ union regarding infrastructure and safety in the capital’s educational centers.
