ADP intensifies demands over crisis in educational centers of San Francisco de Macorís
The Dominican Association of Teachers (ADP) in San Francisco de Macorís held a demonstration in front of the Regional 07 Education headquarters. The teachers’ union demands immediate solutions to the precarious conditions affecting more than 25 educational centers in this district, which have limited the right to education for hundreds of students.
Main deficiencies in the local education system
Robert Frías, an ADP representative, detailed that the delay in infrastructure repair work is the main obstacle to the normal development of the school year. This situation has forced the implementation of reduced schedules, where students can barely attend classes two or three days a week due to the lack of available classrooms.
For his part, leader Waldy Paredes expanded on the complaints by pointing out critical deficiencies in the schools, among which the following stand out:
- Schools that have not yet managed to start the academic year.
- Unsanitary conditions in restrooms.
- Lack of adequate spaces for teaching.
- Construction and maintenance projects that are stalled or unfinished.
Complaints about the school feeding program
In addition to the structural problems, the ADP highlighted irregularities in the school feeding program. According to what was stated by Paredes, there have been significant delays in the delivery of rations, as well as an insufficient amount of food and reports of food arriving at the centers in conditions unsuitable for human consumption.
This is the second mobilization we have carried out to demand concrete answers. We will not stop our fight until the educational authorities assume their responsibility and address the urgent needs of the affected centers.

The teachers’ union warned that it will maintain its struggle plan and continue with the days of protest until it obtains a satisfactory response from the authorities of the Ministry of Education, thus seeking to guarantee a dignified and safe environment for the student community of the region.
