Maridalia Hernández will be the great honoree at the 2026 Acroarte Journalistic Merit Award
The Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte) has announced that the 15th edition of the Acroarte Award for Journalistic Merit, to be held this Tuesday, September 1st, will feature a special recognition for the career of the iconic Dominican singer and songwriter, Maridalia Hernández. The event, which celebrates excellence in communication, will be dedicated to the prominent communicator Juan T.H.
During the gala, a tribute will be paid to Hernández’s more than forty-year career, whose voice has been fundamental to the sonic identity of the Dominican Republic, from her beginnings as a founder of 440 to her consolidated stage as an internationally acclaimed soloist.
An evening of stars and recognition
The tribute will include a musical performance in which prominent artists such as José Antonio Rodríguez, Manuel Jiménez, Frank Ceara, and Pavel Núñez will perform iconic songs from the artist’s repertoire. Marivell Contreras, president of Acroarte, highlighted the importance of this award:

Maridalia Hernández stands out for her rigorous academic background and a professional path marked by success. Some of her most relevant milestones include:
- Winner of the Viña del Mar Festival in 1986 with the song “Para quererte”.
- Recognized on multiple occasions with the El Dorado and El Soberano awards.
- Performances on prestigious international stages such as the Kennedy Center, the Apollo Theater, and the Lincoln Center.
- Outstanding acting experience in film and theater, including the lead role in the film “María Montez”.
- Permanent member of the Ibero-American Arts Forum since 2023.
