Accident on the Northeast Highway leaves three people injured
A serious traffic accident was reported this Wednesday afternoon on the Northeast Highway, specifically at kilometer 25, near the entrance to the Pueblo Nuevo community, belonging to the municipal district of Chirino, in the province of Monte Plata.
The incident involved a white Mercedes-Benz SUV, whose driver lost control of the steering wheel while traveling along the aforementioned road, causing the vehicle to end up overturned. As a result of the impact, three people were injured.
Response from authorities and medical assistance
Following the incident, units from the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Attention System quickly arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the injured. Likewise, agents from the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (DIGESETT) and Road Safety personnel appeared at the scene to manage traffic flow and conduct the necessary investigations into the causes of the accident.
Danger reported on the road section
Residents of the Pueblo Nuevo area have raised their voices following this accident, pointing out that rollovers and collisions are frequent at that specific point on the Autovía del Nordeste. According to locals, the curve where the incident occurred has a critical unevenness in the asphalt that compromises the stability of vehicles at high speeds.
The community has repeatedly requested the intervention of the Ministry of Public Works to correct the unevenness of the road and thus prevent future tragedies on this stretch of the highway.
So far, the authorities have not provided a detailed medical report on the health status of the three affected individuals. The local population remains expectant that the competent bodies will evaluate the technical conditions of the road infrastructure to ensure greater safety for drivers traveling through the Monte Plata province.
