BRISTOL, Tenn. – The iconic Bristol Motor Speedway is facing an unprecedented race against time. After hosting the recent MLB meeting between the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds, the circuit must be transformed again for the NASCAR race scheduled for September 13.The historic track, known as “The Last Great Coliseum”, underwent a complete transformation for the baseball event, which attracted a record crowd of 91,032 spectators.
It’s difficult, but they are things we like. It gives us a challenge and we like challenges.
Steve Swift, Senior Vice President of Speedway Motorsports Operations

Part of the materials, such as gravel and wood used in the stands, will be reused, including to help in the reconstruction of areas affected by Hurricane Helene. The goal is to complete the transformation by September 7th, leaving a safety margin. As soon as the final release is launched, the final hit is connected, the teams do their thing, take care of the post-game, they will begin to remove the pads from the wall and work all night to basically start dismantling so we can reassemble for the NASCAR race.

Bristol has already demonstrated its ability to organize large-scale events, including a college American football game in 2016 that attracted more than 150,000 people.Furthermore, there is speculation that the NHL may consider Bristol as a venue for future events, which underscores the versatility and potential of the circuit. There may still be some paint drying when the Goodyear transporters arrive, but we will definitely aim for (September 7th).
