Hecher Sosa Wins UFC Contract After Tragic Loss
The Spanish bantamweight fighter, Hecher Sosa, secured a contract with the UFC at the “Dana White’s Contender Series” event, demonstrating remarkable strength after facing a tough personal challenge. Sosa (14-1) achieved a unanimous decision victory over Mackson Lee (9-1) in the main event of the series in Las Vegas. This triumph came less than 72 hours after the death of his father, who was battling cancer. The 30-year-old competitor decided to go ahead with the fight despite the news of his father’s death, an emotional blow that adds to the loss of his sister, also a victim of cancer, a year ago.Sosa, a native of Arrecife, Spain, revealed that he learned of his father’s death while in the process of cutting weight for the 135-pound fight. In an Instagram post, he shared the anguish he felt thinking that his father would not see him compete, but ultimately decided to move forward with the support of his parent.I can’t speak [with my father] today, but he is the reason why I am here. He is the reason why I am the man I am, and I will continue to represent him.
