The Spanish bantamweight fighter, Hecher Sosa, secured a contract with the UFC on “Dana White’s Contender Series” on Tuesday, demonstrating unwavering strength in the face of adversity. Sosa (14-1) achieved a resounding decision victory over Mackson Lee (9-1) in the main event of the “Contender Series” in Las Vegas. This victory came less than 72 hours after the death of his father. The 30-year-old fighter decided to compete despite the tragic news received on Sunday morning. Sosa’s father had been battling cancer, a disease that also took his sister a year ago.Sosa, originally from Arrecife, Spain, revealed that he learned of his father’s passing while in the process of cutting weight for the 135-pound fight. In an Instagram post, Sosa shared that he struggled with the idea that his father wouldn’t see him compete against White. However, he came to the conclusion that his father had told him: “Son, don’t worry, we started this together and we’ll finish it together.”I can’t speak to my father today, but he is the reason I am here. He is the reason I am the man I am, and I will continue to represent him.
