PFL Reveals Ambitious Plans for 2026: A Globalized Calendar

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has unveiled its plans for the year 2026, marking a significant expansion in the world of mixed martial arts. The announced schedule includes a total of 24 events, distributed across 16 global events and eight regional events that will take place in its MENA (Middle East and North Africa) and Africa series. The promotion’s first main event in 2026 will feature Usman Nurmagomedov defending his lightweight title against Alfie Davis. This matchup will take place on February 7th at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. In addition to Dubai, the initial PFL schedule includes events in March in Madrid and Pittsburgh, as well as one in April in Chicago. The event in Madrid will represent the promotion’s first foray into Spain. Founded in 2017, PFL has undergone a significant transformation in its leadership in recent months. The company appointed John Martin, former executive at Turner and Time Warner, as its CEO in July, and Lenny Daniels, former president of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, as its COO this week. Historically, promotion had been structured around a regular season and a playoff format. However, in 2025, that format was replaced by a single-elimination tournament. Martin has decided to move away entirely from the tournament model, opting for a more traditional MMA matchup. The PFL has a national broadcast agreement that expires at the end of 2026.
