Mark Kerr Enters the UFC Hall of Fame in 2025

The legendary MMA fighter, Mark Kerr, known as “The Smashing Machine”, has been selected for the UFC Hall of Fame class of 2025. Kerr, recognized for his two victories in UFC heavyweight tournaments, will be the twenty-first member to be honored in the Pioneer Era section. The induction ceremony is scheduled for June 26th and will be attended by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who will play Kerr in the upcoming film “The Smashing Machine”, which is scheduled to be released on October 3rd. The official announcement was made during the UFC 316 event in Newark, New Jersey.

Mark Kerr was a high-level wrestler who also competed in PRIDE and was one of the early pioneers of this sport.

Before his successful MMA career, Kerr excelled in collegiate wrestling at Syracuse University, where he won an NCAA Division I title in 1992. After failing to qualify for the 1996 Olympics, Kerr focused on mixed martial arts. His professional MMA debut took place on January 19, 1997, at the World Vale Tudo Championship, where he secured a victory. Subsequently, he joined the UFC. In 1997, Kerr became UFC heavyweight tournament champion twice, managing to finish each of his four victories. He joins a select group of fighters, including Royce Gracie, Mark Coleman, Dan Severn, and Don Frye, who have also won multiple UFC tournaments. Kerr also competed in PRIDE and other international MMA organizations, accumulating a record of 15 wins and 11 losses before retiring in 2009.
