Dillon Danis, banned for life by the UFC after incident at UFC 322
The fighter Dillon Danis, known for being a former training partner of Conor McGregor, has been banned for life from UFC events. The decision was made by UFC CEO Dana White after an altercation at UFC 322. The incident occurred on Saturday at Madison Square Garden, moments before the main event between Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena. Danis was involved in a fight with several members of Makhachev’s team. Videos from the event showed Danis in a fight with Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Magomed Zaynukov, Makhachev’s teammates.Danis was part of McGregor’s team in 2018, when he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in a UFC title fight in Las Vegas. The rivalry between both teams was intense, with McGregor making derogatory comments about Nurmagomedov’s family and religion. The tension between the teams has decreased over time. However, Nurmagomedov and Makhachev have been teammates for a long time, and Danis provoked Makhachev in several social media posts during fight week.I was on the other side of the Octagon and I thought, ‘Shit, I know exactly what this is,'” White said about the fight. “You’ll never see Dillon Danis at a UFC event again.”
