Diego Sanchez Arrested for Shooting from a Moving Vehicle
Former UFC champion Diego Sanchez was arrested on Thursday in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for allegedly firing a gun from the passenger window of a moving vehicle.
According to online records, Sanchez, 43, faces charges for shooting from or at a motorized vehicle (with great bodily harm) and for negligent use of a deadly weapon. His bail has not yet been set.
The police report indicates that the shot came from a Jeep Gladiator while passing by a traffic accident. Sanchez was arrested, although he allegedly denied having fired the weapon. The driver of the vehicle was not arrested in connection with the incident.
Sanchez was released by the UFC in 2020 after a series of poor performances and a public dispute with his then-manager and the UFC itself. He competed in bare-knuckle boxing in 2023 and was scheduled to do so again earlier this year, until the event he was supposed to appear in was canceled. He rose to fame with the UFC after his appearance on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2004.
