Diego Lopes stars in a triumphant return with a spectacular knockout

Diego Lopes demonstrated his resilience on Saturday, achieving an impressive knockout over Jean Silva in the featherweight main event at UFC Fight Night, held in San Antonio. Lopes, who was coming off a loss in April, was in an advantageous position to finish the fight early, securing the mounted position in the first round and bleeding Silva with elbow strikes, as well as seeking submission. However, Silva resisted for almost two minutes in an unfavorable position. In the second round, Silva took control of the stand-up fight, but Lopes connected with a spinning elbow that dropped him, and swarmed with a flurry of punches before referee Mike Beltran stopped the fight at 4:48. Lopes’ celebration was interrupted when Silva, with blood on his face and still staggering, got up and pushed his opponent.

This game has levels: your level and the high level. I am at a high level. I proved it tonight.

For Silva, the defeat ends a streak of 13 consecutive victories dating back to 2018. In a preliminary strawweight bout, Tatiana Suarez dominated Amanda Lemos, securing a unanimous decision. Suarez achieved takedowns in all three rounds and accumulated 9 minutes and 34 seconds of control time in the 15-minute fight. The event, called UFC Fight Night, was held for the third consecutive year to commemorate Mexican Independence Day.
