Yankees Bolster Third Base with Ryan McMahon
The New York Yankees are about to strengthen their roster. Sources confirm that they have reached an agreement to acquire third baseman Ryan McMahon from the Colorado Rockies.
In return, the Yankees will send the Rockies two minor league pitchers: left-hander Griffin Herring and right-hander Josh Grosz.
This move addresses several needs for the New York team, which was looking for a left-handed hitter and a replacement for Oswald Peraza at third base.
McMahon, 30, has shown good performance, including home runs in the first two games after the All-Star break and another on Tuesday. He is expected to maintain his streak of four consecutive seasons with at least 20 home runs. In addition, he is known for his power and patience at the plate, as well as being one of the best defenders in his position.
McMahon, who has played for the Rockies since his MLB debut in 2017, and was selected for his first All-Star in 2024, has two years and $32 million remaining on his contract after this season.
