Aaron Judge dealing with elbow issues

New York Yankees right fielder Aaron Judge is dealing with a “problem” in his right elbow, according to manager Aaron Boone. Judge is not in the team’s lineup this Saturday, being the second time this season that this has happened. Judge underwent tests on his elbow after experiencing discomfort when throwing the ball in Friday night’s loss, the second time this has happened this week. Boone indicated that the team is awaiting the results and opinions on the matter.

Let’s hope it’s something manageable and we can overcome it.

The problem in Judge’s elbow first manifested when he made a throw against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday. He played as a designated hitter on Wednesday and returned to right field on Friday after a day off. Losing Judge for an extended period would be a significant blow to a team that has struggled since mid-June and is 5.5 games behind the Blue Jays, who are in first place in the American League East. Judge, already a two-time American League MVP, is the leading candidate to win the award for a third time. He leads Major League Baseball in batting average (.342) and OPS (1.160). His 37 home runs place him in second place.
