Bobby Witt Jr. Leaves Game with Lower Back Spasms

Kansas City Royals star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was forced to leave Friday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins due to lower back spasms.

Witt Jr. left the game in the seventh inning, after having made two important defensive plays in the top of the sixth inning. These actions occurred in response to ground balls.

At the time of his exit, the Royals were leading the scoreboard 2-1. Nick Loftin entered the game in place of Witt Jr., taking over third base, while Maikel Garcia moved to the shortstop position.

Before his exit, Witt Jr. hadn’t connected any hits in three at-bats, and accumulated a strikeout.
