Byron Buxton Hits for the Cycle and Makes Twins History

The Minnesota Twins’ center fielder, Byron Buxton, had a stellar performance on Saturday by hitting for the cycle against the Pittsburgh Pirates. This historic achievement occurred at Target Field and marked a milestone for the team.

The Buxton cycle is the first achieved in the history of Target Field since its inauguration in 2010. In addition, it is the first cycle for a Twins player since Jorge Polanco achieved it in 2019.

Buxton showed his skill early in the game, connecting three hits in the first three innings: a single in the first, a triple in the second, and a double in the third. After another single in the fifth inning, he had one more opportunity in the seventh.

With two outs in the seventh inning, Buxton, who will participate in next week’s Home Run Derby, hit a solo home run of 427 feet against Pirates reliever Andrew Heaney, thus completing the cycle and sealing the victory with a score of 11-3.

This home run, which completed the cycle, was the 21st of the season for Buxton, tying him for fifth place in the American League.

Buxton was replaced in center field after the seventh inning, but before leaving, he received a standing ovation and a call to the field from the Twins fans present.
