Buxton excited for the Home Run Derby

Coming home to do something like this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing. I know I’m not going to play 30 more years to return to Atlanta, so I couldn’t pass up this opportunity.

The 31-year-old player has had an outstanding first half of the season, accumulating 20 home runs in 73 games, which places him among the leaders in the American League in home runs. In addition, he has starred in six games with at least one home run and one stolen base, the most this year in the Majors. Buxton’s participation in the Derby will be significant, especially due to his connection with Georgia and the enthusiasm it has generated in his family, including his eldest son, Brix.

He plays MLB The Show all the time and always tells me, ‘Dad, if you make the Derby I want to bring you a towel!’ That’s what matters to him. And for me, that’s special.
