ANAHEIM, California – Los Angeles Angels place Chris Taylor on the injured list due to a fracture in his left hand, after being hit by a pitch. The incident occurred during Monday’s game, in the Angels’ 7-4 victory over the Athletics. Taylor, who remained in the game until the end, suffered the injury after being hit by a 95 mph fastball thrown by Tyler Ferguson in the eighth inning. After the encounter, the X-rays confirmed the fracture, which will keep the veteran out of action for an indefinite time, according to manager Ron Washington.

He’s had bad luck, and it keeps happening. Now he can only recover. But in baseball, these things happen, and the next player has to step up.

Taylor, who was released by the Dodgers on May 18, was showing improvement in his offensive performance. In 10 games with the Angels, he batted .200 (6 for 30), including a home run, three doubles, and three RBIs. He stood out in the weekend series against the Mariners, where he had four hits, including a home run and two doubles, as well as driving in three runs. To fill his spot on the active roster, the Angels called up LaMonte Wade Jr., a versatile player acquired Sunday from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for a player to be announced or cash. Wade, 31, batted .167 (24 for 144) with a home run, eight doubles and 15 RBIs in 50 games with the Giants this season. Although he has experience at first base, Washington indicated that Wade will play primarily in the outfield for the Angels.
