WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout has begun light running as part of his recovery from a bone contusion in his left knee. This injury has kept him out of action for the past three weeks.
Trout told reporters on Tuesday that he ran at 50% intensity on Monday, and that he plans to increase the speed later this week.
The three-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) was injured on April 30 against the Seattle Mariners, trying to reach first base after an infield hit.
Before the injury, the 33-year-old player had a batting average of .179, with nine home runs and 18 RBIs.
Trout has missed a significant amount of playing time in three of the last four seasons due to various injuries.
The eleven-time All-Star has been hitting in the cages and playing catch during his recovery. The next step will be running the bases, although the outfielder does not have an exact date for his return.
