Detailed Analysis of the Teams
1. Los Angeles Dodgers: The Dodgers are in a pinch in the outfield. Teoscar Hernández, MLB’s RBI leader, is on the injured list. Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman are on a streak to lead the offense.
2. New York Mets: Clay Holmes has proven to be a great success in the Mets’ rotation, with a record of 4-1 and an ERA of 2.95.
3. San Diego Padres: Michael King and Nick Pivetta continue to stand out as one of the best duos in the league, with a combined 9-2 record and a 2.12 ERA.
4. Chicago Cubs: The Cubs’ offense has been strong, but the team faces adversity in its starting pitching staff. Justin Steele underwent Tommy John surgery and Javier Assad suffered a new injury. Shota Imanaga is also on the injured list.
5. Detroit Tigers: The Tigers have thrived in several aspects, but they stand out in their dominance at Comerica Park, with a home record of 13-3.
6. San Francisco Giants: Logan Webb remains one of the most underrated starters in MLB, leading the league in innings pitched in 2023 and staying among the leaders this season.
7. New York Yankees: Max Fried has been exceptional with the Yankees, with an ERA of 1.05 in eight starts. Carlos Rodón has also performed well. The rotation weakens without Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil.
8. Philadelphia Phillies: Bryce Harper broke a home run drought, but the star player’s start has been inconsistent. His BABIP has decreased.
9. Seattle Mariners: Cal Raleigh rested, but returned for the ninth inning and hit a two-run single for the victory. His 12 home runs tie him with Aaron Judge and Kyle Schwarber.
10. Arizona Diamondbacks: Geraldo Perdomo continues to stand out, with a 4-for-5 game with two doubles and three RBIs. He has more walks than strikeouts and a high stolen base percentage.
11. Kansas City Royals: The Royals’ offense has improved, with Bobby Witt Jr. and Maikel García leading the attack. García has improved his swing decisions and could be considered for the All-Star.
12. Boston Red Sox: The Red Sox lost Triston Casas to injury. The team must decide who will play at first base.
13. Cleveland Guardians: The Guardians need their underperforming positions to produce. Steven Kwan has been the best in left field, but his outfield teammates are among the worst.
14. Atlanta Braves: The Braves’ outfield is among the five worst by wins above average. They need the return of Ronald Acuña Jr. and the improvement of Michael Harris II.
15. Cincinnati Reds: The Reds’ season continues to be strange. Offensive inconsistency is the main problem. They need more from Elly De La Cruz.
16. Houston Astros: Yordan Alvarez is on the injured list, affecting the Astros’ offense. Yainer Diaz and Christian Walker are also struggling, and José Altuve has a low OPS+.
17. Milwaukee Brewers: Joey Ortiz, acquired in the trade for Corbin Burnes, has had a disappointing performance in his rookie season.
18. Oakland Athletics: The A’s blew a lead in the ninth inning. Mason Miller performed poorly and Tyler Ferguson came in to relieve.
19. Texas Rangers: The Rangers hired Bret Boone as batting coach. The team had 16 hits in Boone’s first game. Evan Carter returned and performed well.
20. Tampa Bay Rays: The Steinbrenner Field has not been favorable for the Rays. The stadium has been a haven for hitters.
21. Toronto Blue Jays: Three of the Blue Jays’ main acquisitions have been disappointing. Jeff Hoffman has established himself as one of the best closers.
22. Minnesota Twins: Royce Lewis made his debut. Carlos Correa continues to struggle.
23. St. Louis Cardinals: The Cardinals have the best defense. Victor Scott II is thriving as a contact hitter with elite defense.
24. Washington Nationals: The Nationals’ bullpen has performed poorly. Kyle Finnegan has been good as a closer.
25. Baltimore Orioles: The team has had a bad start. Gunnar Henderson is not playing as expected. The team is ranked 23rd in runs scored.
26. Pittsburgh Pirates: The Pirates have had a disastrous season, both on and off the field.
27. Miami Marlins: The Marlins’ starting rotation has been terrible. They’ve had few quality starts.
28. Los Angeles Angels: The Angels’ defense is among the worst in the league. Logan O’Hoppe, Nolan Schanuel, and Luis Rengifo are among the worst at their positions.
