Chris Taylor Suffers Another Injury and Jorge Soler to the Injured List

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Chris Taylor will miss at least six weeks after suffering a fracture in his left hand for the second time this season. The news comes after an unfortunate incident on the field. In addition, outfielder Jorge Soler was placed on the 10-day injured list due to lower back inflammation. This situation arose before Saturday’s game against the Seattle Mariners. Taylor was injured during a catch attempt in the outfield during the seventh inning of Friday night’s game. The player had recently returned to the team after being out since June 9, when he fractured his left hand from a pitch.

It was an unfortunate accident on that play. When you come back from an injury like that, there’s a risk of something like this happening. He worked hard to recover and help us, that’s why I feel really bad.

Ray Montgomery, Interim Manager of the Angels
Taylor has batted .189 in the 15 games he has played with the Angels since he was acquired. Soler, 33 years old, has been playing with back pain in recent weeks. The team decided to give him a rest to recover.

It’s something real. It’s not easy to play in these circumstances, especially at this stage of his career. He did very well, considering the situation. We can’t demand that of him until the end of the year, so we have to look for a solution.

Ray Montgomery, Interim Manager of the Angels
Soler, 2021 World Series MVP with Atlanta, is batting .215 with 12 home runs, 34 RBIs and 94 strikeouts in his first season with the Angels. To cover the absences, the Angels called up outfielder Gustavo Campero and infielder Scott Kingery from Triple-A Salt Lake. LaMonte Wade Jr. was scheduled to play in right field in place of Soler on Saturday night.
