Clarke Schmidt Shines in Yankees’ Victory Over the Orioles

In a dominant display, Clarke Schmidt pitched seven no-hit innings, guiding the New York Yankees to a resounding 9-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday.
The Orioles’ only hit came in the opening of the eighth inning, courtesy of a single by Gary Sánchez.
Schmidt, seeking the Yankees’ first no-hitter since Domingo Germán’s perfect game on June 28, 2023, delivered an exceptional performance.
The Yankees’ pitcher struck out five batters and gave up two walks in the first inning, where he threw 29 pitches.
After issuing consecutive walks to Jordan Westburg and Gunnar Henderson, Schmidt struck out Ryan O’Hearn and retired Ramón Laureano to finish the first inning.
Schmidt left the game after throwing 21 pitches in the seventh inning.
In the closing of the game, JT Brubaker allowed the only hit for the Orioles.
Trent Grisham, JC Escarra, Ben Rice, and Anthony Volpe hit solo home runs, propelling the Yankees to a total of 14 hits in the game.
Volpe, who finished with three hits, raised his average to .236.
Zach Eflin (6-4) of Baltimore allowed six runs and 10 hits in three innings.
