Julio Rodríguez Makes History with the Mariners

In a day full of emotions, Julio Rodríguez, star player for the Seattle Mariners, made a historic milestone by hitting a home run and becoming the first player in MLB history to achieve 20 or more home runs and 20 or more stolen bases in his first four seasons. The Mariners defeated the Texas Rangers with a score of 5-4.

Rodríguez demonstrated his power and speed on the field, connecting a two-run home run in the third inning, which represented his 100th career home run. In addition, the center fielder added his 21st stolen base of the season after a single in the fifth inning.

Jorge Polanco also contributed to the scoreboard with a solo home run in the second inning, and shortstop J.P. Crawford hit a two-run hit in the fourth inning against Rangers starter Jacob deGrom. DeGrom, for his part, achieved a personal milestone by becoming the fastest pitcher in MLB history to reach 1,800 strikeouts in his career, measured by games and innings. The Rangers kept the game close by scoring three runs against Mariners’ starter Logan Evans, but only managed one more run against the Mariners’ bullpen, before closer Andrés Muñoz secured his 25th save of the season.
