Cincinnati Reds Activate Austin Hays and Place Jake Fraley on Injured List
The Cincinnati Reds made moves on their roster this Friday, reinstating outfielder Austin Hays from the 10-day injured list, while outfielder Jake Fraley was placed on the same list due to a right shoulder sprain, retroactive to June 24. Hays, who was batting .303 with six home runs and 25 RBIs in 119 at-bats, had been placed on the injured list due to a contusion on his left foot, suffered when he was hit by a ball in the 3-2 loss against Kansas City on May 28.While Hays’ return represents a valuable addition to the Reds’ offense, the team will have to do without Fraley, their regular right fielder, for an indefinite period. Fraley, batting .224, with five home runs and 17 RBIs in 47 games, hasn’t played since the first game of the series against the Yankees on Monday. We’ve missed him. He’s still an important presence. He will lengthen our lineup. We are getting a leader back.

Cincinnati, which won two of three games against the Yankees, was 2.5 games behind the National League’s third wild-card spot at the start of the day.He said it hurts. If he’s going to play, it won’t work if he’s worried about it. We’ll see what the best way to approach it is.
