HOUSTON – Houston Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña was removed from Sunday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners due to left oblique discomfort.

The announcement was made by the team approximately 90 minutes before the start of the match.

Peña was originally in the lineup as the leadoff hitter and playing shortstop. Mauricio Dubon, who was scheduled to play in left field, was moved to replace Peña in the lineup as shortstop. Zach Cole was inserted into the lineup, batting eighth and playing in right field, and Jesús Sánchez moved from right field to left field.

José Altuve was moved from fourth to first in the batting order due to Peña’s absence.

So far this season, Peña is batting .304 with 17 home runs and 62 RBIs.
