Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Joey Ortiz has been activated from the injured list after recovering from a left hamstring strain.
The Brewers announced Ortiz’s return and also called up right-handed reliever Craig Yoho from Triple-A Nashville before Monday’s game against Philadelphia.Joey Ortiz, Brewers shortstop, returns to the team after a brief absence due to a left hamstring strain.Ortiz, 27, had a batting average of .233 with an on-base percentage of .284, seven home runs, 43 RBIs and 11 steals in 125 games before going on the injured list on August 22. In the month of August, he batted .343 with an OPS of .830.
Yoho, 25, has a 0-0 record with an 8.22 ERA in seven appearances with Milwaukee this season. In 39 games with Nashville, he has recorded 4-1 with seven saves and a 1.04 ERA.
The Brewers lead the league with the best record in baseball, with 85-53, at the start of the series against Philadelphia.
