Mets Complete Their Coaching Staff for Next Season
The New York Mets have finalized the composition of their coaching staff, announcing significant additions and reassignments for the upcoming season. The franchise seeks to renew its technical body after a challenging season.
Among the most notable appointments is Justin Willard, who will take on the role of pitching coach. In addition, Troy Snitker, son of former Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker, will serve as hitting coach.
Snitker arrives at the Mets after seven seasons as a hitting coach for the Houston Astros, while Willard joins from Boston, where he was the pitching director since November 2023.
These moves are part of a significant restructuring under the direction of manager Carlos Mendoza, following a season in which the Mets failed to qualify for the postseason, despite the arrival of star right fielder Juan Soto.
Previously, the team had announced the hiring of Kai Correa as bench coach and the promotion of Jeff Albert to MLB hitting director.
The technical staff is completed by Dan McKinney as assistant pitching coach, Gilbert Gomez as first base and outfield coach, Tim Leiper as third base and infield coach, and J.P. Arencibia, who will work with the catchers.
José Rosado returns as bullpen coach, Rafael Fernandez was promoted to assistant hitting coach, and Danny Barnes will be the quality control coach.
In other news, the Mets have released right-handed pitcher Frankie Montas, 32, who underwent Tommy John surgery on September 9 and is expected to miss the 2026 season.
