Kyle Tucker Re-joins the Chicago Cubs
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker rejoined the team on Tuesday after receiving additional treatment in Florida for a left calf injury. Tucker, who is a four-time All-Star, left the team in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, the same day the Cubs clinched their first playoff berth since 2020.Tucker hasn’t played since September 2nd. Manager Craig Counsell indicated that he will be used as a designated hitter initially once he returns.“I feel a little better, whether it’s from a couple of extra days or the additional treatment,” Tucker said. “Obviously, there are probably a few more things I need to check before everyone is comfortable with me being on the field.”

The Cubs acquired Tucker in December. He avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract for $16.5 million. This season, he’s batting .270 with 22 home runs and 73 RBIs in 133 games.“I think we’ve made progress, no doubt,” Counsell said. “We’re going to treat this day by day as much as we can and just try to have good days. There’s a time urgency here, no doubt.”
