KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Aaron Judge showed his power by hitting a 469-foot home run that almost left Kauffman Stadium in the first inning of the game between the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals. The Yankees won with a score of 10-2 on Tuesday night, thanks in large part to Judge’s stellar performance.
This home run, number 24 of the season for Judge, is positioned as the third longest in MLB so far this year, only surpassed by those of Mike Trout (484 feet) and Logan O’Hoppe (470 feet).
The two-run hit raised Judge’s batting average to .398 and his OPS to 1.279, a figure notably higher than that of the second-best player in the league, Shohei Ohtani.Judge connected on the 2-0 pitch from rookie left-handed pitcher Noah Cameron, who had previously not allowed more than one run in his five starts in the league. The ball, driven by Judge, headed towards the left field foul line, near the Royals Hall of Fame.
The impact of the ball was so strong that it landed just before the roof of the Hall of Fame and was recorded as the sixth longest home run in the history of the stadium, since the MLB tracking system began to function. This was Judge’s seventh longest home run in the regular season, with his best mark of 496 feet achieved at Yankee Stadium in 2017.
In addition to the home run, Judge drove in a run with a single in the sixth inning, totaling three RBIs on the night.
Judge’s streak continued after hitting two home runs on Sunday in a game against the Boston Red Sox. His batting statistics, on-base percentage, and slugging lead all hitters in the league, and he is currently second in home runs, behind Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh, and leads the American League in RBIs.
