Jason Adam of the Padres Left the Game Due to Injury
SAN DIEGO – San Diego Padres star relief pitcher Jason Adam was carted off the field after suffering an injury in the seventh inning of Monday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles.
Adam collapsed while trying to react to a hit by Gunnar Henderson that bounced off the mound, resulting in an infield single. He immediately requested assistance from the trainer and grabbed his left knee.
After being attended to by the trainers, Adam was helped to get up and put on a stretcher, with his left leg supported on the seat. The cameras caught Adam apparently saying that “he felt something crack.”
The right-hander came into the game with an 8-3 record and a 1.81 ERA.
The game was tied at 3 runs when Henderson’s hit put runners on first and second. Adam was replaced by his All-Star teammate Robert Suárez.
