Phoenix, Arizona – San Diego Padres reliever Mason Miller showcased his prowess on the mound Tuesday night. Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. responded forcefully.

Gurriel connected on a 103.9 mph pitch from Miller to the left field stands in the eighth inning, hitting a two-run home run that tied the game 5-5. This hit became the fastest hit for a home run since MLB began tracking pitches in 2008.

In addition, it was part of a two-home run night for Gurriel, who also hit a two-run homer in the first inning. Miller, known for his speed, was acquired from the Athletics in last week’s trade deadline. Typically, his pitches exceed 100 mph, and on Tuesday night he reached 104.2 mph on his fastest pitch.
