Guardians Activate David Fry and Make Roster Adjustments
The Cleveland Guardians made significant moves to their roster this Saturday, highlighting the return of David Fry and adjustments to the injured list.
The designated hitter David Fry was activated from the 60-day injured list and added to the team for the game against the Los Angeles Angels. Simultaneously, outfielder Lane Thomas was placed on the 10-day injured list due to plantar fasciitis in his right foot. Thomas’s absence is retroactive to Tuesday.In addition, right-handed pitcher Cody Bolton was designated for assignment.
Fry, who underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow after last season, has been in the recovery process. He completed rehabilitation assignments with teams from the Arizona Complex League, Double-A Akron, and Triple-A Columbus of Cleveland. Fry, 29, was selected for the All-Star and had an outstanding season in 2023, batting .263 with 14 home runs and 51 RBIs in 122 games.Fry had a notable performance in the playoffs, including a two-run home run in the tenth inning in the 7-5 victory over the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series on October 17.

In the playoffs, Fry batted .286 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 10 games.
As for Thomas, also 29 years old, his batting average is .119 with three RBIs in 17 games this season. Previously, he was out of action due to a bone contusion in his right wrist, after being hit by a pitch on April 8 against the Chicago White Sox.
Bolton, 26, allowed three runs on four hits in two innings in his only appearance with the Guardians against the Minnesota Twins on April 28.
