Glasnow and Ohtani to lead the Dodgers in the National League Championship Series

Pitcher Tyler Glasnow will start Game 3 of the National League Championship Series for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Milwaukee Brewers, followed by Shohei Ohtani in Game 4. The announcement was made by the Los Angeles manager, Dave Roberts, before Game 2 of the series. Glasnow had his last start on Thursday, throwing six scoreless innings in Game 4 of the Los Angeles divisional series against the Philadelphia Phillies. For his part, Ohtani hasn’t pitched since October 4, when he allowed three runs in six innings against the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1 of the National League Division Series. Since then, he has been the starting hitter and designated hitter for the Dodgers in every postseason game, and the pitching order in Los Angeles could allow Ohtani to add another role to his already extensive resume.

Shohei has been fine with rest. Potentially lines him up if we need a Game 7 out of the bullpen.

Dave Roberts, Dodgers Manager
Glasnow has also pitched from the bullpen this October, throwing 1 1/4 scoreless innings in relief of Ohtani in that start against Cincinnati.

For Game 3, we feel that Tyler is with regular rest, so we also line him up. So, all these things just made sense.

Dave Roberts, Dodgers Manager
The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the National League Championship Series with a tense 2-1 decision on Monday at American Family Field. Games 3 and 4 will be played this Thursday and Friday at Dodger Stadium, as the current champions seek to return to the World Series for the fifth time in the last nine seasons. The Brewers have not yet announced their pitching plans for Game 3 or Game 4.
